BEX ED101: 5 THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW BEFORE SELLING TEES!
Ahhhhhhhh…… I have so many things to discuss, but I will keep this one short!
EVERYONE and their UNCLE has a “clothing line”…. or do they??? A clothing line is MUCH MORE than a cool design on a shirt. Its much more! Many people have “tshirt lines” not clothing lines…
But, I’ll digress.
Here are my top 5 tips to prepare for the tshirt biz!
THE DESIGN SHOULD MAKE SOMEONE FEEL SOMETHING.
People tend to buy things that have purpose to them, does your design have purpose? Selling your logo tee right out the gate, is kind of like charging them to promote your brand….. just my opinion.
FORM A FOCUS GROUP!
Get opinions about your idea, Make sure the people in your focus group are your TARGET AUDIENCE. Sometimes what we think is awesome…. isn’t. Your grandma shouldn’t be in that group text. Sorry.
GET TEST SHIRTS PRINTED!
These are for PROMO ONLY. Give them out to people you know will help build buzz… ALSO YOUR TARGET AUDIENCE. If your audience is 25-36 males, your 5 yr old niece should not be wearing your shirt on social media. Get them to take selfies (GOOD ONES) and post them on your social media to build buzz.
BUILD A BUZZ BEFORE LAUNCHING!!!
People tend to buy what they see others buying first!! Create that hype… create a demand THEN KILLEM with the FIRE!!! [insert fire emoji] haahahha
FIGURE OUT YOUR PRODUCTION METHOD!
Now there are tons of fulfillment companies that can print and ship the orders. Google them and see what works best for you. Go to YouTube and research MORE, look at the product and once you have done your homework, get started! Or find a local screen printer in your area. I don’t suggest this for newbies…. build the buzz then stock inventory!
If you are not knowledgable in graphic design, develop a great relationship with a reliable one! This will make your tshirt brand even MORE poppin! Have money to invest…. good graphic designers are rarely cheap! It takes money to make money!!
There are more tips, but these are my top 5!!!
